Flygon EX #XY61 Oversized: rarity, grading and trend

Flygon EX #XY61 Oversized is an Oversized card from XY Black Star Promos, the XY era (2013). It ranks as number 155 by price out of 256 cards in the set. The illustration is by Toyste Beach.

Is it worth grading? Oversized promos like this one are not eligible for standard third-party grading services, so a numeric grade is rarely available. Condition is generally assessed through direct visual inspection of corners, edges, and surface quality. Because grading is not standard practice for this format, most examples circulate and are described in raw condition.

This card seems to draw interest mainly from collectors focused on display and set completion rather than active trading. Its oversized format may limit long-term storage and grading options compared with standard-sized promos, which could shape future demand in ways that remain hard to predict. Condition preservation appears more difficult for jumbo cards, since they are harder to sleeve and protect consistently over time.
