Absol #1: rarity, grading and trend

Absol #1 is a Rare Holo Pokémon card from EX Dragon, the EX era (2003). It ranks as number 11 by price out of 100 cards in the set. A PSA 10 sells for about 22x the raw price, so centering and surface condition decide most of what a copy is worth. Its price has held almost flat over the last 30 days ($86.68 to $86.68). The illustration is by Naoyo Kimura.

Graded card values (PSA, CGC, BGS)

Grading	Grade	Median sold	Sales
CGC	10	$195.60	1
CGC	9	$145.81	5
PSA	10	$1,888	2
PSA	9	$294.54	5
PSA	8	$294.74	5
PSA	7	$123.02	5

Graded values are medians of real eBay sold listings.

Is it worth grading? Although the raw band is already meaningful, the unusually steep premium for a top-grade copy makes condition screening essential before submission. Look first for scratches across the foil, then inspect the back edges for whitening and the corners for small pressure marks.
