Base Set 2 has 130 cards with prices tracked hourly, released in February 2000. A complete raw set is worth about $1,550 and the most valuable card is Charizard #4 at $411.95.

Issued in February 2000, Base Set 2 combined selected cards from Base Set and Jungle into one early reprint expansion. It did not add a new battle mechanic. Instead, it returned major starter evolutions, classic holo rares, Trainers, and familiar Jungle Pokémon with revised numbering and a distinct expansion symbol. Charizard leads the chase, followed by Blastoise, Venusaur, Mewtwo, Raichu, and Alakazam. Because the artwork was already established, appeal rests heavily on nostalgia, clean holofoil, and the challenge of finding sharp copies from an expansion that was often handled as an everyday reprint product.

If you are not sure which printing you have, identify it with the Pokémon card scanner before comparing prices.

Completion is relatively direct because Base Set 2 has no official first edition or shadowless tier. Most builders buy singles, reserving sealed packs for dedicated early-era collections. Holo rares drive the set's value, especially the final starter evolutions. Surface scratches, print lines, edge wear, and off-center borders are frequent condition traps, while the expansion symbol must be present to avoid confusion with earlier printings.
